After inheriting a manor in England, you begin to explore the Kangale Estate and discover its history in Shiver: Poltergeist! It never got in the way and was never boring. I liked the storyline even though I've seen the haunted house theme a few times in other games. Fast reload time. A nice gray, dark theme and the perfect game for a chilly Saturday afternoon. In fact, even with the negatives, this is my new favorite game! It contains diary, tasks and photographs of the location. First class production values all round. You feel like a part of a movie, then you learn more about the story through excellent graphics and really nice voice over. There are lots of places to go, much to explore, many rooms to find and still no butler showing up to help you. Personally, I was happy to scratch my head over where to get a shovel rather than pushing buttons aimlessly trying to make them all stay down. Other extras include the usual concept art beautiful in this case , wallpapers, videos and a step-by-step walkthrough. It was moving. Worth the purchase!! Game seemed nice and long, the scenes tied into each other and made sense, and the game really kept my interest. And so I am left with just one thought — Did the butler do it?

If you do buy the CE, the bonus Poltfrgeist some Shiver: Poltergeist fun, is as good as the main game and the true culprit is revealed there at the end, if you want to know for certain. I think he could have played a pivotal, interactive role, highlighting the antagonism but it just didn't happen. The other negative is the abrupt, inconclusive ending. I played this game on expert and was satisfied with the difficulty. It is also a mature, professional and well crafted game. The HO scenes were a little murky and I did use the hint button. And so I am left with just one thought — Did the butler do it? I think the music contributed to the game in a way I've never experienced. The pictures are useful for knowing where you need to go back to. The main game takes a satisfyingly long time to complete hours for expert hidden object players and after that, an additional chapter unlocks. The hint button will tell you where you need to go next if you get stuck. There were several puzzles but I didn't find them enormously challenging. The first Shiver game, Vanishing Hitchhiker, made me jump a few times; this one gave me the full-on willies now and then. You are going to an old, run-down mansion that you have inherited. The scenes were drawn really nicely with great detail but I really enjoyed the interaction, such as flashlight, using objects in items list together or a lot more interactivity with puzzles than other adventure games I've played.   4. The visual quality was excellent. It is not hard at all and if you need help the hint button works great. Slowly, you piece together what has gone before and work to appeasing your poltergeist. Very atmospheric and good voiceover!

  7. Lots of rooms! I liked the storyline even though I've seen the haunted house theme a few times in other games. The ending is designed to hook you for the CE.
